BookSnap is a high-performance, digital camera-based book scanning solution that is a better way for book scanning.

BookSnap lets users convert physical books into ebooks. The magic of BookSnap includes unique V-shaped book cradle and V-shaped transparent platen that operate together like a V-shaped sandwich. It is extra easy on your books and ensure you always get scanned results with no page curvature.

Hmm, too bad I can’t fit one of these into the trunk of my car. Of course, I think most of the books I’ve come across for the Washington Rural Heritage project are too old and fragile for the page turner.

They also sell a piece of software called Snapter (http://snapter.atiz.com/) that lets you automatically convert digital camera images to PDFs. They claim it means you don’t need a scanner any more to create documents out of paper.
